Organized labor has been present in America since the colonial times. The International Union was founded in 1896. We were chartered out of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers January 30, 1924.
The mission of Iron Workers Local #387 is to provide our industry with competent, productive man-power ensuring that our union iron workers have the skills, knowledge, and training necessary to be safe on the job site, competitive in the workplace, and satisfied in their careers. We offer excellent salary, benefit package and safe working conditions.
We support the Steel Erectors Association and assist in their efforts in bidding jobs against the non-union using our Market Recovery Funds, Davis Bacon Wage and Determinations governed by DOL, and OSHA guidelines. Our jurisdiction has a wide geographical range in Georgia including the Metro -Atlanta area to Northern Rome, to Southern Albany and Eastern Macon area. Our goal is to meet contract requirements by completing jobs under budget. Our vision is to grow our membership by signing up new contractors and creating more jobs. Our strength stands in numbers. United we succeed and divided we struggle.
Core Values include:
