05 January 2018

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

As we welcome a new year, I would like to thank all the members for the work that has been done. Thank you to the families that have supported us as we go to work every day. The efforts that you have put in over the years will continue to make this local better with each passing day. There is more to be done, but I know that we have the will to do what it will take to be successful.

On April 28th of this year, we will once again have a Local 387 Picnic. This was always a time when the members and families had the opportunity to fellowship with each other. The picnic will once again be held at the Sports Pavilion of Stone Mountain Park. This family event will once again be one of the highlights of the local. At this renewed gathering we will hold our annual pin ceremony recognizing the members years of service.

We are beginning to look at the negotiations for the 2018 — 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement for the jurisdiction. I had thought of asking questions, to drive down to what you, the member, would like to gain during the next contract. I feel that what I asked would be more about what I see and the direction I feel would be best for 387. For this reason, I am going back to where we were in late 2014. Please give the negotiating committee your thoughts on what you’d like to see in the contract. As always, the primary concerns will be wages and benefits.

Please look over the CBA and send back what you’d like us to accomplish in the next agreement.

Once again thank you all for your efforts. Hopefully everyone had a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday Season, and a Happy New Year. Keep those in need and the Iron Workers that were lost during the last year in your thoughts and prayers. Be safe in your travels and enjoy each moment you have with your family and loved ones.

Wishing you all a prosperous 2018.
